LMI’s partner in Rwanda is Sawado Nshimyimana, who lives in the nation’s capital of Kigali. Sawado is the leader of a youth outreach ministry, with a big heart for reaching the rising generation of Rwanda – no mean feat, given that 40% of the population are aged 14 and under.

Sawado and his team use sport as part of their reaching and teaching work, partnering with local churches in various areas of the country. Through programmes including football, volleyball and dance, youth evangelism and discipleship is helping churches to make connections with the young in their communities.

In addition to youth ministry, Sawado has been instrumental in the translation of LMI Bible teaching resources into the Kinyarwanda language. This language edition of LMI’s Dynamics of Discipleship has been a key tool in supporting the discipleship work of the local church.

Through our partnership with Sawado LMI have been able to support the leadership development of church leaders via sponsorship of indigenous leadership training events and through the sending of a visiting LMI Bible teaching team.

As we continue to stand with Sawado in Rwanda we are focussing upon the following ministry goals:

Biblical Resources ~ we want to enable the printing of more Kinyarwanda discipleship resources for use by Sawado throughout his activities.

Leadership Training ~ we want to help Sawado to provide further indigenous training opportunities for local church leaders.

Youth Evangelism ~ we want to assist Sawado and the Bethel Active Youth Ministry team, as they continue to reach out to young people through sport.

Humanitarian Assistance ~ we want to help Sawado to continue to respond to the need encountered through ministry in Rwanda and Uganda.

On a practical level, we stand with Sawado and his efforts to help some of those who are most in need in local communities, and amongst refugee groups in Rwanda and Uganda. Helping to equip a refugee community with classrooms for their school and with toilet facilities is just one example of this partnership which seeks to express the love of God to others.
