Getting to know Alison

Alison is part of LMI's Youth and Schools Ministry

History & Interests

Alison Kernohan is determined to impact the lives of young people through her work with LMI. Having initially set out with an ambition to become a hairdresser, in 2008 Alison left hairdressing to participate in a GAP year programme with Crown Jesus Ministries. Following this she decided to study Theology at Belfast Bible College, and two years later she graduated with a Diploma in Theology.

Alison got married in 2014 to her husband, Richard, and together they live in Ballymena with their beautiful daughters, Karis and Emmy. Alison loves spending time with Richard and the girls, and can often be found in the park, going swimming or on many other adventures. Alison and Richard are active members of their church Green Pastures, Ballymena.

LMI Story

Since joining the mission in 2012 as a Youth and Schools Outreach (YSO) Worker, Alison has used her talents and energy to help create many of the LMI programmes designed for young people. These programmes bring God’s word and the Christian faith to life in a fun, educational, interactive and relevant way. As many young people now have limited contact, if any, with a church, Alison is acutely aware of the need for the truth of God’s word to be relayed in a clear, easy to understand manner, so that they can gain a better understanding of the Christian faith and its importance today.

In 2015, Alison was appointed as LMI’s Youth and Schools Outreach Coordinator. As such, her role involves leading the YSO team organisationally and working to extend the vision and scope of this aspect of the ministry.

Alison’s service in LMI goes beyond the Youth and Schools Outreach Department, as she represents the work at meetings and mission exhibition events. She has also taken part in our Summer Outreach Teams, reaching children in Hungary and Serbia with the Gospel through English teaching and children’s ministry.

Favourite Bible Verse

“I really like the whole of Chapter 3 in Proverbs. In particular, verses 4 and 5 were significant when I was considering applying to work with LMI - ‘Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight’. God was really challenging me to give him all of my ways and to really trust him as I took a step into the unknown.”
