It all started from a small living room in East Belfast in 1977, when the Lord burdened Thomas and Yvonne McClean to open their home to invite young people to hear from missionaries, learn about mission work and be motivated to play their part 🏠

Many different speakers addressed these gatherings. They included local people from Northern Ireland who were serving Christ in the mission field and speakers from overseas, such as Pastor Josiah Ogalo from Kenya, who you can see in the photos here.

These meetings helped to lay the foundation for the ministry LMI has today.

It is still our privilege and joy to regularly welcome speakers from overseas to the UK and Ireland as part of our Mission Awareness Programme, as we seek to inspire and challenge the local church into action.

And, in the case of Pastor Josiah, we enjoyed a very fruitful ministry partnership for almost four decades, before he went to be with the Lord in 2013 (you can see a few photos from our final ministry endeavour with Pastor Josiah, when we sent a team to undertake leadership seminars in Kenya and South Sudan in 2011).

Happily, we are still actively involved in Kenya and East Africa through our Coordinator there, Pastor Eric Ngala, who came to know the Lord through the ministry of Pastor Josiah in the 1990s, praise God! ✝️🙂
