LMI's 'A word for your week' devotional taken from John 10:9

‘I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.’ - John 10:11

The Lord Jesus often used everyday illustrations to teach spiritual truths to His followers. He is the perfect teacher, showing us how to relate the Bible message to others.

The sheepfold was usually a circle of rocks with an opening for the sheep to go in and out. The shepherd would guard the entrance at night to protect the sheep from danger, he was quite literally the door of the sheepfold.

The Lord Jesus was teaching his listeners that He personally was the door into the kingdom of God. Acts 4:12 ‘And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved’ He alone could bring them out of religion into the kingdom of God. He is the door of salvation, bringing people out of the bondage of sin and dead religion, into his kingdom.

Jesus is our door to forgiveness and life. If you enter in you will be saved and satisfied with all He has for you.

One door and only one

And yet it’s sides are two

Inside and outside,

On which side are you?

One door and only one,

And yet it’s sides are two:

I’m on the inside,

On which side are you?

One book and only one

The book the Father gave,

Good book and true book,

With all power to save

One book and only one,

And I believe it’s true,

God’s book, the Bible,

Will you trust it too?
