In the penultimate edition of our Immanuel devotional, Lorna Wilkinson turns our minds to eternity, as we come to ‘E’ for ‘Everlasting Father’ ❤️👑.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” John 1:1

Jesus Christ - Immanuel - existed before the foundation of the world.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth…” Colossians 1:15-16a.

“… but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world” Hebrews 1:2.

Jesus said, “I and the Father are one” John 10:30.

In Christ, God came down to earth, clothed in flesh and born as a baby, so that He could redeem us. God the judge became the Saviour, but one day the Saviour will be our judge. He is sovereign over all. The first Christmas demonstrated that He is in control of time and space, working out His purposes in His world.

“We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” 2 Corinthians 5:20 🩸✝️.

Jesus, the second Person of the Trinity, came to save us and to make us His children when we place our faith in Him for salvation, remembering His finished work at Calvary, where He shed His blood to cleanse us from sin. He is indeed the Everlasting Father promised throughout the Old Testament, who will reign forever!

Immanuel is the Christmas gift that we all need 🎁⭐️.

Hark! The herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th’angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

Refrain:
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!”

Christ, by highest Heav’n adored;
Christ the everlasting Lord;
Late in time, behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th’incarnate Deity,
Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.

Hail the heav’nly Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris’n with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die;
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.”
