Getting to know Thomas & Yvonne
History & Interests
Thomas and Yvonne are both from Belfast, where they still live and work. They married in 1977 and in the subsequent years were blessed with two children who are now grown up, Philip and Rachel.
Thomas is a keen Liverpool FC and Northern Ireland supporter, and he also enjoys watching nature documentaries on television. Yvonne is an ardent tennis fan, and she enjoys walking, reading and gardening.
Thomas and Yvonne’s story is very much intertwined with the story of LMI as an organisation. In August 1977, just a matter of weeks after their wedding, Thomas and Yvonne launched YEMF (Youth Evangelical Missionary Fellowship), the first fruits of what would ultimately become Logos Ministries International.
As the founders and directors of the organisation, they have worked tirelessly to see the mission develop over the years, and are humbled to witness the Lord’s provision and blessing upon the work. They have travelled extensively across the globe, together as a couple and with other LMI colleagues, to minister in many different nations.
Thomas and Yvonne continue in their roles as Mission Directors, giving direction and support to the LMI staff and overseeing the ministry as a whole. The staff appreciate their hands-on and practical approach, as well as their genuine care and the generous giving of their time.
One of the main purposes that Thomas and Yvonne feel they are called to fulfil in this season of their service for the Lord is to help encourage and release others into ministry. Their passionate love for the Lord and abandonment to His purposes are a wonderful example and challenge to all who meet them.
Favourite Bible Verse:
Yvonne – “One of my favourite verses is Matthew 19:26: ‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”’
Thomas – “One of my favourite verses is Romans 8:28: ‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’”
